Geopolitical risks in modern world economy


8 December in PRUE hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Geopolitical risks of the world economy", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Department of World Economy.

The project was organized by Department of World Economy and Faculty of International Economic Relations.

Vice-Rector Leonid A. Bragin opened the conference. On behalf of the rector Victor I. Grishin he congratulated the staff of the department and the founder and head of the Department Honored Scientist of Russia, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, prof. Ruslan I. Khasbulatov.

Leading scientists of the University and other guests, including foreign ones, congratulated the Department of World Economy with the anniversary. Then congratulatory letters from those who could not attend were read, namely from Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Academician Sergey J. Glazyev, rector of the University of Konstanz prof. Ulrich Rüdiger (Germany), from St. Petersburg and Omsk, United Kingdom, San Marino, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Moldova.

Plenary Session began on the topic "The specifics of the integration of the Russian economy into the global economy", which was presented by Head of the Department of World Economy, Ruslan I. Khasbulatov. In his speech, he considered the impact of political events on the national economy, strengthening the asymmetry in the balance of power in the global economy, the need for the formation of Russia's multi-vector policy.

The audience was great interest in the following reports: "Modern Risks of the Russian economy," by Vice-Rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, D.V. Sorokin; "Macroeconomics and power in Russia: medium-term outlook," by the general director of the Institute of Power Engineering Problems, prof. B.I. Nigmatulina and "Information component of geopolitical risks," by prof. All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade Economic Development Y. Piskulova.

The reason for the discussion was presentations by representatives of the Moscow State University- Prof. M.V. Kulakov, Y.M. Osipova, M.N. Osmovoy and E.V. Avdokushin. In addition, at the meeting were the leading specialists of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Latin America, etc.

Along with plenary there was an active work in the sections where Russian and foreign students presented their views on the alleged problems as well as graduate students of PRUE.

In total, the conference was about 70 speakers. According to the results of its work were summarized various approaches to geopolitical risks in today's global economy and ways to overcome them. At this conference has completed its work.
